Chain rule (probability)

Math

The chain rule in probability, also known as the general product rule, is a fundamental rule that allows the calculation of the joint probability of a sequence of events. It states that the probability of a sequence of events occurring is equal to the probability of the first event multiplied by the probability of the second event given the first, and so on for all subsequent events.
